About Us
How did we get here?! I find myself asking that quite often when I think about it. It all started when our nieces gave our daughter, Beth, two LaMancha dairy goats. These two goats (twins that Beth named Twinkle and Thumper after getting to know them) were a 4-H project that quickly worked our way in to our hearts. We soon decided we wanted a doe in milk, so Cassie Marie joined our family. She was an older, very gentle doe – and was very patient with our inexperienced hands as we all learned to milk! I never will forget how Beth and I stood and anxiously watched as Cassie eagerly jumped on to the milking stand and David tried his hand at milking for the first time (yes – we made him try first!). Before long we heard the first splash of milk hit the bucket and we cheered in excitement! We have been hooked ever since! If you would have asked us back then, we never would have thought we’d find ourselves selling soap made with the milk our goats so generously share with us! It has become a big part of who we are and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thumper and Cassie take a moment to pose for the camera! We treasure each and every one of our goats for their unique personality and sense of whimsy

Beth's first time milking! Cassie Marie was so patient as we all learned!

David, my amazing husband, is the one who encouraged me to turn my hobby in to a "business". He is always there to lend a hand and support me in any way possible.

So why the name “Beth’s Kydz Sudz”? Our nieces encouraged Beth to register her herd. She decided her little herd would be called “Beth’s Kydz.” Being the homespun person I am (I sometimes think I should have been born about 3 or 4 generations ago), I tried my luck at making goat milk soap. The first batch was a learning experience, but the soap did turn out and I could hardly wait for it to finish curing so I could try it out! In fact I still have a little piece of it to remind me how far I have come. I remember feeling so proud when my husband used it in the shower and told me he really liked it! I dove in head first and began trying my own recipes – adding a little more of this, less of that; learning about the different properties each ingredient had to offer and the most fun of all – blending fragrances! I think my family and friends must have gotten tired of trying the different batches, but they never complained. After a little tweaking of my recipe and lots of encouragement from my family and friends, Beth’s Kydz Sudz came about!
Beth's Kydz Sudz is truly a family-oriented project. Each of us shares our particular talent some way or another! Sarah, our oldest daughter has the wit and creative mind to come up with the majority of the names of our soap. There is a story or reason behind each and every name! She seems to know exactly what I have in mind, but just can't get my head wrapped around it in a catchy name for a new fragrance! Beth is the talent behind the camera and takes all the photos of our soap! And, truly she is the reason we have goats to start with! When she and Sarah get together I know I will be thrilled with what they come up - great photos, catchy names and sisterly love and laughter when they work together! My parents help label soap, package samples and are always there to lend a hand in any way! My dad lovingly made all of my original molds and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world! Mom often comes and keeps me company at the market! I enjoy lunch and good conversation with Mom and Dad every Saturday after the market!! I mention David above, but I honestly can't say enough about him. He inspires me, encourages me and picks me up when I am discouraged. He is the one that gave me courage every step of the way to market my soap! So . . . there you have it - this is how we came to be and who we are! There is a little piece of each family member in every bar of soap! We like to think of it as the special ingredient that makes our soap so very special!
